Why is an Online MBA not Suitable for Students but only for Working Professionals?

November 20th, 2020 Insights to Online MBA Aspirants

You would have heard lots of success stories of working professionals who pursued online/distance/part time MBA. Some of them are even hard to believe when you really see them at the top managerial levels. We would all have admired how they were able to achieve these in a short span of time.

Pursuing online degrees might lead to sleepless nights and weird weekends. Some would even loose a proper work-life balance. Some would have even thought of dropping the plan of an online degree at the last minute?

  • Better packages and promotion – Fortunately, these are all just the natural ways where you get fine-tuned unknowingly to become a real quality industry professional. At the end of the course you realize how much capable you are to take up tasks which require some business knowledge apart from technology skills. You realize that you are able to perform far better than a few years ago. You will be able to deliver the best results in your project and an added MBA degree to your skill set will make you stand apart from the rest and brings you a PROMOTION.
  • Improved career options – Imagine the stressful life of a sales person where he is forced to work throughout the day and would require to extend overnight if not able to meet the target. Or a bank employee who also have to bare the stress of monthly EMI’s apart from a tough boss. We would suggest these kinds of people to pursue an online MBA degree if they need to move to a BETTER PROMISING CAREER. Its possible to find an MBA degree related to one’s own discipline of work for example for a bank employee it’s better to choose an MBA degree in banking and likewise.
  • Ideal for a working professional – The advantage of a working professional is that he knows to utilize his time in the best possible way. He is clearly focused on his future achievements and rewards. He also owns a work experience and industry knowledge. He also is capable of doing his work independently on his project and has enough subject knowledge. In fact, earning an extra MBA degree enhances his knowledge and takes him to next level in profession.
  • Not a great option for an undergraduate student  – However, things are different if an undergraduate pursues an online MBA degree. He has no subject knowledge, no work experience and no industry knowledge either. He doesn’t understand the term of work life balance. He may not be aware of the course accreditation too and might end up with unrecognized degrees and wastes years and years. Instead its better to choose a regular MBA unlike the working professionals. Earning an online degree will not help him advance in his career.

For an undergraduate, he needs to choose regular MBA degree from top business schools if he needs a promising career. He needs to bare the course fee too even if its higher as compared to an online MBA degree. For working professionals, they just need to showcase an accredited extra degree related to their discipline to earn a promotion and need not hunt for top business schools.

This is the whole reason why many top business schools across the world makes it mandatory to have a relevant work experience to pursue an online MBA degree.
