The history of University of New England began with the election of David Henry Drummond as a representative of the Northern Tablelands in NSW Legislative Assembly. His passion to driven education led to electing as the Minister of Education by the Government and it is he who established a teachers’ college in Armidale which later on expanded to form a university.
